VenaScope is an iPhone app that processes the camera image on the device in real time to make superficial veins under the skin more visible, and lets you archive and report captures by patient.
Contact: info@ahmetokyay.com. We usually reply within 2 business days. Please do not include patient information or patient images in your email.
Requirements
- An iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
- No internet connection is needed, except for purchasing and restoring through the App Store.
Getting started
- Just start capturing; the first capture opens a new record. For an existing patient, select the patient at the top left.
- Frame the arm in good light from 15–25 cm (6–10 in) away.
- Tap AUTO; the app finds the settings that maximize vein contrast.
- Fine-tune if needed with balance on the left edge and gain on the right edge.
- Press the shutter. The image is saved to the patient's archive.
You can replay the camera tour at any time from Settings › Help and tutorials.
Frequently asked questions
Veins are not visible enough.
- Use diffuse, white, plentiful light; avoid direct sunlight and bright reflections.
- Stay 15–25 cm away. Too close and focus is lost; too far and veins look thin.
- Keep the skin clean and dry; cream and sweat shine reduce contrast.
- Holding the arm below heart level can make veins fuller.
- When the environment changes, tap AUTO once.
Only veins close to the surface are visible. Darker skin tones, thicker subcutaneous tissue and poor lighting can reduce visibility.
The camera doesn't open or the screen stays black.
Make sure VenaScope is allowed in iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera, then close and reopen the app.
What is the password of the PDF report?
Reports are encrypted with the patient's mobile phone number:
- Turkish mobile numbers: 10 digits without the leading 0 (5XXXXXXXXX).
- Other countries: the number with its country code, without the + sign.
The password is also shown under the phone field on the patient card.
Where is my data stored? Is it backed up?
VenaScope has no servers; all patient details and images are stored only on your iPhone. App data may be included in your iPhone's iCloud or computer backup. Deleting the app removes all of its data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete an image or a patient in the app; deleting a patient deletes all of their images. Albums in Photos and files you have shared must be deleted separately.
