VenaScope is an iPhone app that lets healthcare professionals process vein images on the device, archive them by patient, and create reports. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
Summary
- VenaScope has no servers. Everything you enter and every image you capture is stored only on your device.
- The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking, and uses no third-party SDKs.
- Data leaves your device only when you share it (for example via WhatsApp or the iOS share sheet).
Information handled
The following information is entered by you and kept only on your device:
- Patient details: first name, last name, diagnosis, mobile phone number, and notes.
- Images: photos and videos captured with the app, capture date, and processing settings.
- Clinic details: clinic name, physician, specialty, address, phone, email, website, and clinic logo.
- App settings: image-processing preferences and saved presets.
This information is stored with iOS data protection so that it cannot be opened while the device is locked. Its content is hidden in the app switcher. The developer cannot access this information.
Permissions
- Camera: to process and capture the vein image live. The camera feed is processed on the device and is not sent anywhere.
- Photos: only if you turn on "Save to album in Photos" (off by default), to add captures to an album named after the patient.
Sharing
When you share a report or image, it is transferred by your action to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp) and becomes subject to that app's privacy terms.
Patient reports are created as PDFs and encrypted with the patient's mobile phone number. This password is a basic safeguard against the report reaching the wrong person; anyone who knows the number can open the file. The report's file name and the sharing message do not contain the patient's name or health information. The report is deleted from the device when the sharing screen is closed.
Apple services
- iCloud Photos: if "Save to album in Photos" is on and iCloud Photos is enabled on your device, images added to the album are synced to iCloud by Apple.
- Device backup: app data may be included in your iPhone's iCloud or computer backup, which is governed by Apple's and your backup settings.
- In-app purchases: VenaScope Pro is purchased through Apple's App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; the app only checks on the device which purchases are active and never receives your payment details. Free-version usage counts and the first-launch date are stored only on your device.
- Notifications: The app may schedule local reminders on the device (for example, before the Pro preview ends). They are created on your iPhone without any server, and you can turn them off in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings.
Retention and deletion
Data stays on the device until you delete it. Temporary files such as video recordings and reports are deleted when the task completes or the next time the app is opened. You can delete an image or a patient in the app; deleting a patient deletes all of their images. Deleting the app removes all of its data. Albums in Photos and files you have shared must be deleted separately.
Data controller and patient consent
The healthcare professional or institution using VenaScope is the data controller for patient data. Information and consent obligations under applicable data protection law (such as Turkey's KVKK and the EU GDPR) and healthcare regulations rest with the user who records patients' information and images.
Medical disclaimer
VenaScope is an image processing and documentation tool. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or clinical decision support.
Children
The app is intended for healthcare professionals and is not directed at children.
Changes
This policy may be updated. The current version is available in the app and on the publication page.
