VenaScope is an Android app that lets healthcare professionals process vein images on the device, archive them by patient and create reports. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
Summary
- VenaScope has no server. The information you enter and the images you capture are stored only on your device.
- The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The only third-party service is Google Play Billing, used for purchases.
- Data leaves the device only when you share it (for example via WhatsApp or the Android share sheet).
- App data is excluded from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
Information processed
The following information is entered by you and kept only on your device, in the app's private storage:
- Patient information: first name, last name, diagnosis, mobile phone number and notes.
- Images: photos and videos captured with the app, capture date and image-processing settings.
- Clinic information: clinic name, physician, specialty, address, phone, email, website and clinic logo.
- App settings: image-processing preferences and saved presets.
This information is stored in private app storage that other apps cannot access and that is protected by Android device encryption. App content is hidden in the recent apps screen. The developer cannot access this information.
Permissions
- Camera: for live vein image processing and capture. The camera feed is processed on the device and never sent anywhere.
- Notifications: only for local reminders created on the device (see below).
- Storage (Android 9 and earlier only): only if you turn on "Save to album in Gallery" (off by default), to save captures to the gallery. This permission is not requested on Android 10 and later.
- Internet: only for Google Play Billing to verify purchase status. The app does not send patient data or images.
Saving to the Gallery
If "Save to album in Gallery" is on, captures are saved in your device gallery under Pictures/VenaScope/<patient name>/. This folder is visible to gallery apps and to other apps with storage permission. If your gallery app (for example Google Photos) has backup turned on, these images may be backed up to the cloud by that service, according to your own settings there.
Sharing
When you share a report or an image, the data is transferred by your action to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp) and becomes subject to that app's privacy terms.
Patient reports are created as PDFs and encrypted with the patient's mobile phone number. This password is a basic safeguard against a report reaching the wrong person; anyone who knows the number can open the file. The report's file name and the accompanying message do not contain the patient's name or health information. The report is deleted from the device after sending.
Google services
- Google Play Billing: VenaScope Pro is purchased through Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Google; the app only checks which purchases are active and never receives your payment details. This is subject to the Google Privacy Policy. Free-tier usage counters and the first-launch date are stored only on your device.
- Backup: App data is excluded from Android cloud backup and is not transferred to a new device.
- Notifications: The app may schedule local reminders on the device (for example before the Pro preview ends). They are created on your device without any server; you can turn them off in the app's Settings screen or in Android settings.
Retention and deletion
Data stays on the device until you delete it. Temporary files such as video recordings and reports are deleted when finished or on the next app launch. You can delete an image or a patient within the app; deleting a patient also deletes all of their images. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data in Android settings deletes all data in the app. Images saved to the Gallery and files you have shared must be deleted separately.
Because the developer does not receive or store any personal data, there is no server-side account or data for you to request deletion of.
Data controller and patient consent
The healthcare professional or institution using VenaScope is the data controller for patient data. Obligations to inform patients and obtain explicit consent under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), the GDPR and applicable health regulations rest with the user who records patients' information and images.
Medical disclaimer
VenaScope is an image-processing and documentation tool. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment or clinical decision support.
Children
The app is intended for healthcare professionals; it is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
This policy may be updated. The current version is available on this page and on the Google Play store listing.
